Norfolk Southern Portlock Terminal – Norfolk, VA

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Role: Jockey Driver (Hostler / Ground Person).
Location: Norfolk Southern Portlock Terminal – Norfolk, VA.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Operate a jockey truck to move 53-foot trailers, containers, and chassis within the rail yard.
Perform ground duties such as climbing railcars, operating track locks, and handling Inner Box Connectors (IBCs).
Assist with loading and unloading equipment by working alongside operators and using hand signals.
Participate in stacking and unstacking chassis and organizing racks.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.

SCHEDULE:

Start time: 5:00 AM daily.
Hours: Work continues until the job is complete.
Typical shifts range from 8 to 12 hours per day.
Overtime is common and increases earning potential.

PAY AND ADVANCEMENT:

Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour.
Annual Raises: Employees are eligible for a 5% pay increase each year on the anniversary of the union contract dated January 23rd through 2030.
Strong opportunity to increase earnings over time through raises and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a 7-year background check.
Must pass a drug test and physical strength test.
Must live within 45 minutes of Norfolk, VA (no relocation assistance available).

You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services, not Norfolk Southern Railroad.
