Limited experience required - On the Job Training (OJT)
Pacific Rail Services is seeking an intermodal Chassis Mechanic to join our team!
We are hiring immediately applicants with mechanical abilities, people who are good with their hands, and someone able to work outdoors and be on their feet for the majority of the day. We're looking for someone with fundamental experience and people who are willing to work for a purpose on trailers, containers, and chassis. You would be responsible for chassis maintenance and repair at the Norfolk Southern Buffalo, NY Railyard.
Job Summary:
- The Railroad Chassis Mechanic is responsible for inspecting and analyzing malfunctions, completing repairs, and efficiently maintaining chassis and trailers.
Pay: $26/hour
Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic.
- (Preferred but not required) Have a minimum of 1 year's mechanical experience to get certified for FMCSA inspections.
- Deadline and detail-oriented.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Hostler (yard jockey) experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of shop equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Work safely and efficiently.
- Perform quality inspections.
- Replace suspension components and landing legs.
- Make repairs that are documented.
- Patch/weld containers.
- Change tires.
- Perform air brake inspections and repairs.
- Supply your own tools (basic).
Conditions For Employment if you are offered a job:
- Must be able to pass a Physical Capabilities Test, a drug test
- Must have a valid driver's license.
